Many of us love nothing more than a good fright and London by night is the place to get it. Whether you are a believer in ghosts or not, London’s sometimes macabre history in and of itself is enough to give one the chills.
The best way to experience London’s spooky night atmosphere is on the Original London Ghost Walk. This consistently highly rated walking tour, created and conducted by paranormal author Richard Jones, is sure to delight and even perhaps frighten! The tours Richard runs are regarded as arguably the very best ghost walks available in London, and after conducting them for more than three decades, he is master at his craft.
Two walks are offered, the first meeting at 7pm on a Friday night outside the Lord Raglan Pub on St Martin Le Grand. Just two minutes walk from St Paul’s Underground Station; it is easily accessible from your Central London Serviced Apartments at Kensington. Bookings are essential. This tour is “The Dark Streets of Haunted London: Graveyards, Ruins and Execution Grounds”. The second tour option operates on Saturday evenings from 7.30pm, meeting at Exit Three of the Bank Underground Station. It is called “Ghosts of the Old City: London’s Most Haunted Quarter” and begins at one of the city’s most haunted underground stations. Walk the streets featured in stories by Dickens; enter spooky churchyards, and experience some of London’s most paranormally active sites.
The Jack the Ripper Dark History Walking Tour meets every evening at 7pm outside Exit 4 of the Aldgate Underground Station. You will follow in the footsteps of this serial killer, in another tour that was created by Richard Jones. Walk the cobbled streets and sinister alleyways that became so infamous more than a century ago, learning not only the fascinating history but also bringing to life what the area was like in those days. Included on the tour are pubs frequented by the victims and the sites where they were seen.
Tower Twilight Tours operate a short tube ride away from Presidential Serviced Apartments Kensington at what may be the most haunted site in London, and certainly one with a millennium of history: the Tower of London. On select Sunday evenings throughout November to March, this twilight evening tour in the Tower is suitable for participants over the age of twelve. Beginning at 7pm and finishing at 8.30pm, guests are guided by Yeoman Warders through the castle’s scariest spots to hear its spookiest tales. Ticket holders meet at the Tower Hill welcome centre.
