Barbican Tropical Gardens
Situated in the heart of London in a 1960’s residential estate just a stroll from the Moorgate tube and rail stations, the Barbican is London’s second largest conservatory, with tropical plants, trees, fish and birds – a real secret oasis in the middle of the city. Follow your visit with a movie or theatre production in the grounds adjacent to the conservatory.
The Wellcome Collection
This museum is situated on Euston Road and is easily accessed by the Euston or Euston Square Tube stations, minutes from Central London serviced apartmentsThe museum houses an unusual collection of medical artifacts including Charles Darwin’s walking stick and Napoleon’s toothbrush.
Ripley’s Believe It or Not!
This unique attraction is comprised of six floors of curiosities, artifacts, and strange experiences and was founded by the famous explorer, adventurer, and collector Robert Ripley. From shrunken human heads to a piece of the Berlin Wall; a Burmese tattoo kit to an Egyptian mummified hand; eclectic art to sketches by a horse; an albino alligator to a five-legged cow – this is a day out like no other! Located at Piccadilly Circus, it is open every day until midnight.
The Old Operating Theatre
This is the only existent operating theatre in London that dates from the 1800’s and is the oldest of its kind in Europe. Restored to a fascinating and beautiful museum, it is the place to explore the history of London’s surgery as well as herbal medicine. Located in the top of old St Thomas’ Church, across the Thames from the Tower of London and close to London Bridge Underground Station, it was part of the old St Thomas’ Hospital. Visitors can see surgical techniques dating back more than a century ago as well as explore the herb garret, where the herbs used in the hospital’s apothecary were dried and stored.
